In august, i open breastfeeding information counter to create awareness to public about breastfeeding.

Nursing room is available in front of me but i dont bother to nursing in that room.

I beleive that to make breastfeeding as normal infant feeding, we need to show more how breastfeeding works.

This is me, nursing a toddler in public. In front of expo attendees. I nursing in modest and no one thought that im nursing a baby. Thanks to a baby sling that make me possible to carry my boy weightlessly.

Selesai sudah kelas penyusuan yang pertama kali diadakan di mlo penang. Disampaikan sendiri oleh saya. Syukur alhamdulillah semua berjalan lancar. Gambar di atas adalah antara pasangan yang hadir awal. Tahniah kepada pasangan yang hadir kerana telah membuat keputusan untuk menyusukan bayi dengan susuibu apabila lahir nanti. Kelas yg bermul jam 10 pagi sepatutnya tamat pada jam 1 petang. Tetapi akibat terlalu asyik menjawab soalan cepumas peserta, jam 2 petang baru tamat. Sungguh bersemangat peserta kali ini. Moga dipermudahkan Allah perjalanan keibubapaan (parenting journey) untuk peserta yang hadir.

In the picture, i carry my 23 months old son.
It was his napping time and i put him in the stork to calm him while im attending a couple who need breastfeeding support.

Just in minutes, irfan dozed off. I recilned on sofa so that i can have a light sleep as well. I didnt put him down as hes sleep soundly and very comfy. Tak sampai hati nak moved him to put on the sofa. Dont want to disturbing his peacefull sleep.

Just for reference, irfan is 14 kg at the moment. He is weightless in stork. A good workhorse carrier for toddler.

Nursery anak saya di usm ada buat jamuan aidilftri semalam.
Ada aktiviti untuk kanak kanak. Antaranya adalah pertandingan mewarna.
Saya tak sangka anis menang tempat pertama.
Tahniah anis. Seronok betul dia dapat hadiah. Satu set mewarna. Macam macam ada. Malam tadi pun tidur lambat. Asyik sungguh dengan hadiahnya.

Breastfeeding toddler in sling

I love using sling as it helps me to breastfeeding my children in public.

This is how i do it when nursing a toddler

Toddler usually can bf in any position.

Irfan is 20 months old and like this seating position.

I lower the baby bum little bit by adjusting the sling so that his mouth same level with my breast.

Then i latch him. Nursing cloth also helps a lot as its much easier to dig the boobs and latch baby on.

Small baby or newborn is not recommended to breastfed by this position as their backbone is not strong yet. Use normal cradle position would helpfull.

You can use the sling tail or your hijab as nursing cover as well.

I know it might sounds easy but hard to do. But with practise, it will become perfect and discreet

Anis sudah berumur 4 tahun lebih. Sudah besar panjang anak sulung saya ni.
Namun begitu, sebagai kanak-kanak, adalah perkara biasa jika mereka masih bermanja.
Inilah cara anis nak bermanja dengan ayahnya. Minta didukung. Disebabkan anis telah tersangat berat, 15 kg, gendong menggunakan tangan adalah sangat meletihkan. Lengan terasa sakit. Tapi bila menggunakan kain penggendong, masalah itu tiada lagi.

berhujung minggu di mlo penang

Inilah keadannya apabila anak-anak telah keletihan. Baru sahaja selesai bermain-bergaduh-berbaik-bermain-bergaduh semula. Saya dan suami dah tak larat nak jadi tentera pengaman. Biarkan sahaja mereka dengan hal mereka. Jadi pemerhati sahaja. Asalkan tiada yang berdarah atau patah riuk. Bila dah letih, mengantuk, maka senang nak tidur. Itulah rutin kami sekeluarga di kedai. Kadang-kadang, sesi kaunseling penyusuan pun perlu diteruskan. Multitasking.

sokongan keluarga terhadap aktiviti penyusuan

Setelah beberapa hari bercuti kerana menyambut aidilfitri, hari ini saya bertugas kembali secara rasmi. Menguruskan kedai dan client. Awal pagi ini saya ada temujanji dengan seorang klien/ibu di chinese confinement centre. Beliau alami masalah bengkak susu/engorgement. Sebelum bercuti raya, saya dah melawat beliau. Setelah mencuba beberapa cadangan yg saya berikan, hari ini nampak banyak perubahan positif. Ibu lebih selesa dan gembira. Berbanding minggu lepas, ibu dalam keadaan sakit dan stress.

Biasanya, untuk attend klien, saya akan pergi seorang diri. Suami akan bantu jaga anak-anak di rumah. Tetapi pagi ini saya ditemani suami dan anak-anak. Cermin mata saya telah dipatahkan oleh hero kecil. Salah saya juga kerana cuai letak di tempat rendah. Mujur mereka masih mengantuk dan tertidur dalam kereta. Dapatla saya membuat sesi kaunseling dengan tenang tanpa amukan dan rengekan anak kecil yang mengantuk di pagi hari.

Saya berpeluang menyebarkan racun "babywearing" semasa expo motherhood di midvalley pada 19 mac lalu.

ramai yang teruja bila tengok saya balut membalut macam mumia.

ramai komen kata susah pakai.

saya dah biasa dapat komen begitu. saya senyum sahaja.

kemudian saya minta ibu / bapa mencubanya. tak beli pun takpa. hehehe

setelah mencuba, akhirnya mereka tewas. tewas dengan kesedapan wrap dan kemesraan antara anak dengan ayah dan ibu kian terserlah. ramai yang tidak kisah untuk membeli kerana tahu konsep "Attachment Parenting" adalah bagus untuk bayi dan ibu bapa juga.

Breastfeeding Support Group Meeting for Caregiver (nursery)

Buat pertama kalinya, SGM diadakan buat pengusaha dan pengasuh taska.. SGM pertama ini dibuat di Taska Ubudiyah, Taman Kajang Impian, Seksyen 7, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. Seramai 19 orang peserta telah menghadirinya dan mereka terdiri daripada 4 orang pengusaha dan 15 orang pengasuh taska. Moderator yang mengendalikan SGM@Taska ini ialah Pn Norashida Abdul Rahman dan Pn Yusrina Mohamat Hata.

Apa yang menarik dalam SGM@Taska ialah ia tidak seperti SGM lain yang pernah dianjur atau dibuat sebelum ini. Walaupun namanya SGM tetapi ia lebih kepada Latihan Dalam Kumpulan (LDK), namun lebih santai. Sesi bermula pada jam 10 pagi. Dimulakan dengan sesi memperkenalkan MBfPC dan Moderator kepada para peserta. Sesi taaruf dilanjutkan kepada para peserta.

Selepas sesi taaruf, setiap peserta diberikan sekeping kertas dan mereka dikehendaki untuk menulis objektif mereka hadir ke sesi pagi itu. Kemudian, mereka dibahagikan kepada 3 kumpulan. Setiap kumpulan diberikan 1 peranan/watak yang sinonim dengan taska iaitu bayi, ibubapa dan pengasuh. Mereka dikehendaki mendalami watak yang diberi dan memberikan pandangan dan harapan mereka (mengikut watak) mengenai penyusuan ibu di taska.

Kaedah ini dibuat begini supaya peserta lebih memahami peranan setiap watak dan seterusnya mereka dapat memahami betapa besar dan tanggungjawab mereka dalam membantu menjayakan penyusuan ibu bagi ibu-ibu yang menghantar si kecil ke taska masing-masing. Selesai berbincang, setiap wakil dari kumpulan membentangkan hasil perbincangan mereka. Moderator mengulas pada setiap sesi selepas wakil selesai membentang.

Sesi ini dilanjutkan kepada sesi berbincang dan akhirnya ke sesi ‘jamu perut’! Pemilik Taska Ubudiyah telah menyediakan nasi lemak buat santapan tengahari. Tidak lupa juga sesi bergambar beramai-ramai. Komen dan Pn Intan dari Taska Idora, beliau sangat teruja untuk berkumpul lagi terutamanya bersama dengan penguasaha taska lain. Di samping dapat menambah ilmu pengetahuan, berkongsi cerita dengan pengusaha taska yang lain dapat membantu beliau untuk menguruskan taska beliau dengan lebih baik lagi.

InsyaAllah, sekiranya tiada halangan, diharap sesi ini dapat dipanjangkan ke tempat yang lain pula!

nervous jugak coz from my experinced with sis maza ellaroo, ellaroo is soft but scratchy.

but since i love maija colorway and the price is damn cheap, cant resist my temptation to buy it.

Any sling should hold your baby the way you would hold him in your arms (back carries excepted, and even those can be done in arms if you're flexible enough). So for example, a ring sling is typically used with the baby in a vertical position against your chest, just like you'd hold him in your arms, or with the baby at a diagonal angle across your body, as you would hold him while breastfeeding or reclining. The same positions are preferred in a wrap, pouch sling, or mei tai. You should always be able to see your baby's head and face, without opening the fabric to do so, and he should always be able to breathe freely and easily, with his neck straight and his head in a neutral position (not curled forward onto his chest). Again, these positions, while they may take practice, are possible with every safe baby carrier.

What you wouldn't do is hold him down horizontally against your hip, or squished up underneath your breasts, but that's what some carriers force you to do. They also may have an elasticized opening, a triangular cross-section, and a stiff base. Sometimes, to create a (false) sense of security, there's even a harness to keep your baby in one position. These carriers, colloquially known as "bag slings" (or more appropriately, "baby duffels"), all share several design flaws.

lovely. mula mula keras skit. dah lama lama lembut dah. tak lama mana. seminggu lenjan guna.

sgt use full nak ke mana mana. kete kecik pun lapang sbb tak yah boh stroller.

nak menyelit kat kawasan sesak pun senang.

nak turun naik eskalator pun senang kalau lift penuh (jenuh la menuggu, asal bukak pintu lif je sure penuh org, camane nak tolak stroller masuk lif?)

AMALAN penyusuan susu ibu sering dikaitkan dengan budaya tradisional oleh ibu yang mendakwa diri mereka lebih moden. Pelbagai tanggapan negatif dilemparkan mengenai amalan penyusuan itu dengan menyatakan kaedah itu menyebabkan susuk bentuk badan berubah dan akan kelihatan tidak menarik.
Malah, ada yang mempunyai persepsi memberi susu formula lebih mudah kerana terikut-ikut aliran trend moden yang ingin menjimatkan masa. Tidak kurang juga ada segelintir ibu yang kurang yakin pada diri sendiri untuk menyusukan anak mereka lantaran bimbang payu dara menjadi sakit, bengkak atau menjadi kendur.

Betulkah semua tanggapan sedemikian? Sebenarnya payu dara wanita adalah anugerah Allah yang amat istimewa kerana dapat membekalkan susu untuk anak-anak mereka. Kaedah penyusuan susu badan mengandungi hikmah cukup besar kepada ibu dan anak. Ketahuilah penyusuan itu bukan saja digalakkan dalam Islam malah hal itu diakui pakar pemakanan dan kesihatan yang menyatakan susu ibu adalah yang terbaik untuk bayi. Hakikatnya pada tahap awal pembesaran seseorang bayi, mereka sangat memerlukan khasiat pemakanan yang baik dan sesuai untuk menghindari sebarang penyakit. Susu ibu mempunyai antibodi yang utama untuk melindungi bayi daripada jangkitan kuman, virus dan bakteria terutama pada bahagian usus dan paru-paru bayi itu. Pemberian susu badan adalah yang terbaik kerana ia sesuai dengan sistem pencernaan bayi. Atas faktor itulah kita dapati bayi yang menyusu badan akan meminum susu lebih kerap berbanding bayi yang meminum susu formula. Hal ini disebabkan susu ibu itu mudah hadam. Ibu seharusnya menyedari seseorang bayi secara fitrahnya tidak dapat menerima makanan yang keras kerana keadaan sistem penghadaman mereka belum mencapai tahap matang.

Justeru, susu ibu lebih sesuai dan berkesan untuk bayi mereka kerana lebih halus dan lembut. Satu faktor yang ibu harus fahami ialah menyusukan bayi dengan susu sendiri dari segi psikologi akan memberi kesan positif pada pertumbuhan dan perkembangan mental.

Hal itu diakui oleh pakar Barat yang mengkaji kebaikan susu ibu. Sekumpulan penyelidik dari Adelaide’s Flinders Medical Centre, Amerika Syarikat melaporkan bayi yang diberi susu ibu 40 peratus lebih cerdas berbanding bayi susu formula. Ini membuktikan susu ibu dianugerahkan Tuhan untuk bayi sepatutnya diambil peluang sepenuh oleh ibu. Susu ibu sangat berkesan untuk perkembangan otak bayi kerana terdapatnya kandungan DHA, iaitu sejenis asid lemak yang mampu bertindak meninggikan tahap perkembangan mental bayi.

Dengan itu dapat difahami jika seseorang bayi menyusui dada ibu lebih kerap dan dalam tempoh yang lama, tentu akan memberi impak positif kepada pertumbuhan dan perkembangan mental. Keadaan ini bersesuaian dengan kehendak Islam yang sangat menggalakkan ibu menyusui bayi mereka.

Firman Allah dalam Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 223 yang bermaksud: “Ibu hendaklah menyusukan anak-anaknya selama dua tahun penuh, iaitu bayi yang ingin menyempurnakannya.” Maksud intipati ayat itu ialah satu kewajipan buat ibu menyusui bayi mereka dan seharusnya menyempurnakan hak bayi untuk menikmati dan mendapat kebaikan susu ibu.

Susu ibu juga pengikat kasih sayang antara ibu dan bayi. Dengan belaian mesra, pelukan erat dalam dakapan ibu akan mengalirkan unsur kasih sayang sejati yang tiada taranya antara ibu dan bayi. Bayangkan, dalam kenikmatan yang tidak ternilai yang dialami bayi semasa proses penyusuan membuatkan bayi itu terlena. Malah, bayi berasa aman, selamat dan harmoni dalam dakapan seorang ibu semasa meminum susu ibu mereka. Indahnya anugerah Allah. Ibu seharusnya bangga dapat menyusukan anak-anak mereka kerana inilah darjat ketinggian seorang ibu yang dianugerahkan Allah yang tidak dikurniakan kepada golongan bapa. Apa tidaknya, kerana susu yang diminum oleh bayi mereka bukan saja sebagai tali pengikat kasih sayang yang luhur murni malah menjadi komponen asas proses pembesaran bayi. Disebabkan itulah dalam Islam mewajibkan seorang anak itu sentiasa menghormati dan menjaga ibu mereka sebagai tanda kasih sayang dan terhutang budi membesarkan mereka. Firman Allah dalam Surah Al-Isra’ ayat 17-23 yang bermaksud: “Dan Tuhanmu telah memerintahkan supaya kamu jangan menyembah selain Dia dan hendaklah kamu berbuat baik kepada ibu bapa dengan sebaik-baiknya. Jika salah seorang antara kedua-duanya sampai lanjut dalam pemeliharaanmu, maka jangan sekali-kali kamu mengatakan kepada kedua-duanya ‘ah’ dan janganlah kamu membantah, menengking dan menyergah mereka dan ucapkanlah perkataan yang mulia.” Alangkah murninya suruhan Allah kepada kita semua dan betapa mulianya darjat kedua-dua ibu bapa kita di sisi Allah. Namun demikian kita amat sedih membaca laporan Kementerian Kesihatan yang dikeluarkan pada 2008 menyatakan budaya penyusuan badan di kalangan ibu di Malaysia kini berada pada tahap sangat rendah, iaitu hanya 14.5 peratus daripada mereka yang mengamalkan kaedah itu kepada bayi sehingga berumur enam bulan. Masalah itu berpunca daripada kejahilan mengenai nilai susu badan, kurang sokongan anggota keluarga dan kaki tangan penjagaan kesihatan serta kembali bekerja sebaik saja tamat tempoh cuti bersalin yang diwajibkan. Menurut laporan itu lagi, faktor lain ialah kesan atau pengaruh iklan komersial makanan bayi yang menggambarkan seolah-olah ia sama manfaatnya dengan susu ibu. Sehubungan itu, kementerian sudah mengambil beberapa langkah untuk mengatasinya. Antaranya ialah merangka kod etika produk formula bayi yang berkuat kuasa pada Ogos tahun lalu bagi melindungi, mempromosi dan menyokong amalan penyusuan susu ibu. Ini adalah langkah tambahan daripada apa yang pernah dilaksanakan pada 1979 yang didapati kurang berkesan. Antara lain Kod Etika Produk Formula Bayi itu memberikan garis panduan yang jelas untuk mengawal promosi yang kompetitif dan mengelirukan golongan ibu. Tujuan utama kod berkenaan ialah untuk memastikan pekilang dan pengedar agar jangan memasar, mempromosi atau mengiklankan produk dalam cara seolah-olah mencabar atau menggambarkan mengatasi mutu dan kualiti terbaik susu ibu.

Sudah tentu langkah kementerian itu kena pada masanya dan sangat berkesan dalam mendidik wanita mengenai kelebihan susu ibu. Sedarilah ibu bahawa penyusuan susu ibu bukanlah sesuatu yang sukar dilakukan dan tidak langsung mendatangkan kesan sampingan kepada diri ibu dan bayi malah menjadi sumber pemakanan terbaik. Gunakanlah anugerah Allah itu sebaik mungkin kerana susu ibu sesuai sepanjang zaman. Binalah keberkatan membesarkan anak-anak dengan memberi susu sendiri. Menepati kehendak agama dan berkhasiat menurut kajian saintifik.

Kami, warganegara Malaysia yang bertandatangan di bawah menyokong dengan kuat inisiatif Kesatuan Kebangsaan Pekerja-pekerja Bank (NUBE) untuk meningkatkan cuti bersalin bergaji daripada 60 kepada 90 hari.
Peranan wanita moden kini telah menjadi lebih berbeza dan mencabar daripada, katakan, 30 tahun yang lalu. Kebanyakan wanita hari ini terkejar-kejar dengan tuntutan-tuntutan tugas sepenuh masa dan peranan tradisional mereka sebagai suri rumah supaya mereka dapat membantu bagi mempertahankan satu taraf hidup yang memuaskan.
Sebagai seorang suri rumah, seorang wanita menanggung beban berat membesarkan anak-anak, menguruskan isi rumah dan memastikan kesejahteraan menyeluruh keluarga dia. Memikirkan ini, yang paling kurang harus dilakukan oleh kerajaan ialah memastikan pemulihan penuh fizikal, mental serta emosi seorang wanita selepas melahirkan seorang anak.
Banyak negara Asia Tenggara telah mara ke hadapan bersama dengan rekomendasi Konvensyen Organasasi Buruh Antarabangsa – 103 (ILO CONVENTION 103) - Konvensyen Perlindungan Ibu (Disemak Semula), 1952. Konvensyen disemak semula 183 -2000 mempertimbangkan 7 perlindungan ibu; marilah kita lakukan satu perbandingan serantau bagi perlindungan paling asas:

Singapura – 112 hari (16 minggu)
Thailand – 90 hari (3 bulan)
Kemboja – 90 hari
Indonesia – 90 hari
Malaysia – 60 hari

Beberapa Negara Asia Tenggara menyediakan perlindungan menyusukan anak serta penjagaan kanak-kanak. Sebagai contoh seorang ibu di Singapura mendapat sehingga 12 bulan untuk menyusu dan menjaga bayinya yang baru lahir. Di Kemboja, syarikat-syarikat dikehendaki pemberian seorang ibu baru masa rehat 30 minit dua kali sehari untuk menyusukan anaknya. Mereka yang mempunyai lebih daripada 100 pekerja wanita perlu menyediakan bilik-bilik penjagaan dan pusat-pusat jagaan harian, dengan kos penjagaan bayi itu ditanggung oleh syarikat. Sementara itu majikan-majikan Indonesia perlu menyediakan satu tempat yang sesuai bagi ibu-ibu untuk menyusukan anak mereka semasa waktu bekerja.

Ini hanya beberapa contoh-contoh perlindungan bagi pekerja wanita yang diperuntukkan di bawah Konvensyen ILO.
Malaysia, malangnya, ketinggalan jauh di belakang dan terdapat satu keperluan mendesak untuk meminda peruntukan yang releven dalam Akta Buruh 1955.
60 hari cuti bergaji itu memang tidak cukup bagi kebanyakan wanita Malaysia. Kenapa? Penderitaan seorang wanita yang melahirkan anak bukan setakat fizikal malah emosi serta juga mental.
Kemurungan selepas bersalin (Post-natal Depression (PND)), isu kesihatan - 1 daripada 3 ibu-ibu baru, atau 10%, menderita akibat PND iaitu jenis kemurungan yang kurang difahami. Wanita dengan gangguan perubatan ini sama ada belum bersedia untuk kembali berkerja atau rasa mereka tidak boleh balik berkerja. Masalah-masalah ini selalunya bermula dalam beberapa minggu ataupun bulan selepas bersalin. Lebih daripada 50% ibu-ibu mendapat gangguan ini dalam 3 bulan pertama.

Selanjutnya, kira-kira 1 dalam 7 wanita yang mengalami perubahan-perubahan tekanan (stress) dan emosional boleh jadi terlalu, dan termasuk tekanan suasana yang berhayun, kebimbangan, pengunduran sosial, kerengsaan dan paling teruk boleh menjadikan keadaan disfungsi yang serius. PND juga mengganggu ikatan dan proses hubungan kasih sayang antara ibu dan kanak-kanak. Sekurang-kurangnya 1 dalam setiap 10 wanita akan menghidap PND setelah melahirkan seorang bayi. Tanpa rawatan ia boleh kekal beberapa bulan, atau bertahun-tahun, agak jarang sekali. Pemulihan mengambil masa.

Bukan itu sahaja, penyusuan (ikatan ibu dan anak) – memegang kerja penuh masa semasa penyusuan anak amat sukar kerana tempat-tempat kerja tidak menampung keperluan ibu-ibu yang menyusukan anak. Penyusuan anak itu sendiri membawa manfaat kepada kedua-dua ibu dan anak. Ianya melindungi daripada sesetengah kanser payu dara, ovari kerana tahap oestrogen jatuh ke paras yang sangat rendah semasa penyusuan anak. Penyelidikan menunjukkan lebih lama seseorang ibu menyusukan anaknya, risiko kanser akan menjadi lebih rendah. Juga, sekiranya seseorang ibu itu tidak dapat mengeluarkan susunya semasa waktu kerja, payu daranya akan menjadi bengkak, akibat daripada saluran-saluran susu tersumbat yang boleh mengakibatkan kesakitan yang keterlaluan yang mungkin akan menyebabkan jangkitan payu dara dan dia tidak mampu berkerja.

Susu ibu membekalkan pelbagai kelebihan kesihatan serta emosional kepada kedua-dua ibu dan anak, yang amat penting dalam bulan-bulan pertama menjalin perhubungan. Penyusuan anak melindungi bayi baru lahir daripada jangkitan-jangkitan telinga, selsema serta virus-virus, atau mengurangkan keterukan penyakit itu. Ia membantu mengurangkan kematian bayi, yang selalunya terjadi dalam 100-120 hari kehidupan bayi. Cuti bersalin yang lebih akan membolehkan ibu-ibu menjaga bayi mereka dengan lebih baik.

Persediaan untuk kembali berkerja adalah satu lagi trauma emosional dan mental. Kebimbangan atas penjagaan anak tersebut, kasih sayang, pemakanan dan sebagainya merangkumi minda seorang ibu menyebabkannya tidak mampu menghasilkan keupayaan penuh kapasitinya. Lebih-lebih lagi jika ibu itu tidak mempunyai sesiapa yang boleh menjaga anaknya dan terpaksa meninggalkan anak itu di pusat jagaan harian dan sebagainya. Fikirannya bukan sekadar anaknya itu tetapi juga kos yang menyertai penjagaan tersebut.

Jumlah wanita Malaysia yang berkerja ialah 5.1 juta orang berbanding jumlah tenaga kerja iaitu 11.29 juta (2009) dan sesuatu tenaga kerja tanpa cuti sakit yang mencukupi, terpaksa berhenti kerja sama sekali atau merasa agak sukar untuk kembali berkerja. Kos sosial, psikologikal dan perubatan apabila seseorang wanita kembali ke tempat kerja sebelum pemulihan fizikal penuh atau menjalin ikatan dengan bayi baru lahir mereka tidak dapat diukur, dan tidak sepatutnya diterima di sebuah negara seperti Malaysia. Cuti bersalin yang lebih panjang akan memberi ibu-ibu jangka masa yang munasabah untuk menjalin ikatan dan menyusukan bayi mereka tanpa tambahan kebimbangan-kebimbangan kewangan. Ianya baik untuk perniagaan dan ekonomi kerana ia akan membantu mengekalkan kakitangan wanita yang mahir, berpengalaman dalam tenaga kerja.

Bagi majikan, penawaran cuti sakit yang lebih panjang menunjukkan kepada yang bakal menjadi pekerja yang syarikat tersebut mengambil peduli akan kesihatan serta perhubungan dengan pasangan dan anak-anak mereka. Cuti bersalin juga amat menggalakkan orang-orang yang berkelayakan tinggi untuk memohon ke jawatan-jawatan, mencipta satu kumpulan pemohon-pemohon yang lebih besar, dan menambahkan imej syarikat itu dikalangan teman-teman sebayanya, pada masa yang sama meningkatkan lagi statusnya dalam industri itu.

Satu laporan UNDP dalam tahun 2005 memetik ILO berkata Malaysia adalah antara 25 buah negara daripada 152 yang menyediakan cuti bersalin untuk 60 hari atau kurang.

Oleh yang demikian, kami, ingin merayu kerajaan Malaysia meminda Akta Employment 1955 untuk mencerminkan lanjutan cuti bersalin berbayar kepada 90 hari.

But he never bring me there coz he thought its a boring place.

Since we are spending out CNY holiday at perlis, we have nowhere to go.

So we decided to got to that boring place.

we plan to have another trip... next time with mat for picnic and kerusi malas for siesta. hahahaha

The donations of formula for bottle feeding in times of catastrophe such as war, earthquake and floods, are very dangerous. In fact, they are not donations, but instead free samples - it is the means by which formula companies compete to create new markets. If you pay attention to the news, you will frequently hear how an airplane has departed loaded with FORMULA-rarely will you hear of a plane loaded with beans or noodles. That is because the companies that sell noodles and beans, unless they have an especially generous director, have no commercial interest in making donations. While the country in question is in ruins, it is unable to pay for food; when they overcome the catastrophe they will eat their own beans grown in their own country, or their own noodles made in by local enterprises. On the other hand, if in a third world country you can take over lactation, you get millions of women to abandon breastfeeding and millions of doctors and nurses will learn the advantages of bottle feeding, which without a doubt is wonderful because Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) “X” gave it to us as a gift, then you have a captive market that will be worth millions because that milk is not manufactured in the country and it must be imported, and if used to brand Z, they will probably continue to buy brand Z.

Las donaciones de leche para el biberón en casos de catástrofe (guerra,
terremoto, inundación...) son sumamente peligrosas. En realidad no son
donaciones, sino muestras gratuitas: es el medio por el que las empresas
lácteas compiten para hacerse con nuevos mercados. Si estás atento a las
noticias, muchas veces habrás oído cómo ha salido un avión cargado de
leche... raramente oirás de un avión cargado de macarrones o lentejas.
Porque las empresas que venden macarrones o lentejas, fuera de que alguna
en concreto tenga un director especialmente generoso o solidario, no tienen
un interés comercial en hacer una donación. Mientras el país en cuestión esté
en ruinas, no pagarán por la comida; cuando superen la catástrofe, se
comerán sus propias lentejas cultivadas en su país, o sus propios macarrones
fabricados por empresas locales. En cambio, si en un país del tercer mundo
consigues cargarte la lactancia, consigues que millones de madres abandonen
la lactancia y millones de médicos y enfermeras aprendan las ventajas del
biberón, que sin duda es buenísimo porque la asociación X nos lo regalaba
para ayudarnos, luego tendrás un mercado cautivo que valdrá millones,
porque esa leche no se fabrica en el país y la tendrán que importar, y
acostumbrados a la marca Z probablemente seguirán comprando la marca Z.

- Some years ago, at the end of the war in Sarajevo, I met a Bosnian pediatrician in a meeting. He had suffered real hunger and was very thin, and during the meals he would pick up the smallest piece of bread that would fall on the tablecloth and eat it. He explained to us how at the beginning of the war, infant mortality rose horribly, as they were flooded with free samples. Of course, not all the professionals are knowledgeable about breastfeeding, as happens here. Many began to recommend "a little help" thinking the mothers, "stressed" by the war, would have NO milk, or wanted to help the poorly-nourished mothers by reducing the "load" of having to breastfeed. With no drinking water nor gas to boil it (as occurs also in Gaza today), when the explosions destroyed the water system and feces floods the lower floors....the death rate was enormous. It fell upon the more knowledgeable pediatricians who went to UNICEF and called a meeting of the NGO's in the area, getting them to agree to not distribute any more free donations, and also provided their personnel with education on breastfeeding in emergencies...[which is available on-line from UNICEF now] in a few months, while the war continued, they were able to have a higher rate of breastfeeding and a lower infant mortality than prior to the war.

Hace unos años, acababa de terminar la guerra de Sarajevo, conocí a unpediatra bosnio en un congreso. Había pasado hambre, estaba delgadísimo, y en las comidas recogía hasta la más minúscula miga de pan que cayera en el mantel y se la comía. Nos explicó como al principio de la guerra la mortalidad infantil aumentó espectacularmente, porque fueron inundados con muestras gratuitas. Claro, no todos los profesionales tienen buena formación sobre lactancia, igual que pasa aquí. Muchos empezaron a recomendar "ayuditas", pensaban que las madres, "estresadas" por la guerra, no tendrían leche, o que al quitarle a una madre mal alimentada la pesada "carga" de tener que dar el pecho le hacías un favor. Sin agua potable ni gas para hervirla (lo mismo que ocurre ahora en Gaza), cuando las explosiones destruyen las alcantarillas y la mierda inunda las plantas bajas... la mortalidad fue enorme. Tuvieron que ser los pediatras más concienciados los que fueran a quejarse a UNICEF, que convocó una reunión de todas las ONG sobre el terreno, acordaron no distribuir más donaciones, realizaron cursos para el personal... en pocos meses, mientras la guerra continuaba, habían conseguido tasas de lactancia materna más altas y una mortalidad infantil más baja que antes de la guerra.

In these conditions we must do everything we can to promote relactation even if it has been months since the mother breastfed, or find a wet-nurse. And sadly, it is not difficult to find them...because babies are weaker than adults - and in any catastrophe there are more mothers without babies than there are babies without mothers...

Por supuesto algunos niños necesitan leche artificial en las guerras; pero
para esos pocos ya se consigue leche sin necesidad de espectaculares
cargamentos de muestras. Y esos niños, en esas condiciones, tienen un
riesgo de muerte tan alto que ya no vale aquello de "la madre es libre para
decidir, y si ha elegido la lactancia artificial...".En esas condiciones
hay que hacer todo lo posible para que la madre relacte, aunque lleve meses
sin dar el pecho, o para encontrar una nodriza. Y tristemente eso no es muy
difícil, porque los bebés son más frágiles que los adultos: en cualquier
catástrofe hay más madres sin bebé que bebés sin madre.

Any donated artificial milk (and even donated breastmilk...) to Haitian babies ultimately prevents them from getting breastmilk at their own mothers' breast, the impact of which is NOT benign. Breastfeeding is the single most effective way to ensure the health and survival of babies in any disaster zone. Please don't send milk. Send your money to an aid agency with experience in supporting lactation/re-lactation/cross-nursing on the ground (AFASS-type relief efforts).

What is a Peer Counselor Program?

For over 40 years, La Leche League International has led the way in breastfeeding support and education. The international organization has demonstrated a proven way of combining adult learning skills and communication tools that respect women's own personal life experiences, cultural diversity, and breastfeeding knowledge with current, accurate breastfeeding information and support. We have seen women not only increase the incidence and duration of their breastfeeding but we have seen them educate and support their peers in formal group settings and informal settings such as stores, churches, schools and offices. Malaysia Breastfeeding Scenario

It is no surprise that the rate of breastfeeding (up to 6 months) in Msia is low. In fact, there are many Asian countries where breastfeeding rates are less than desirable.

The government has recently taken the stance of changing formula milk advertising as a step towards encouraging breastfeeding. Although this move is most welcomed, I doubt it will deliver the impact we desired.

Like obesity and tackling the increasing rate of C-Sections in countries like Msia, the issue of breastfeeding (or lack of it) is far more complex than a simple change in advertising laws. It involves education, support from everyone from the mother and her family to the environment, change of work and health policies etc.

Ask any mother in Malaysia and you will find that the most common reasons they'll give for not breastfeeding their babies till 6 months are:

1) No milk.
2) Need to go back to work.
3) Body image - eg. if breastfeed, breasts will sag more etc
4) Mother-in-law or mother or relatives or friends recommended formula milk (of certain brands) as being more superior because it contains omega 3 fish oils, supplemental vitamins, probiotics etc.
5) Formula milk has better satiety than breastmilk, so baby can last longer before next feed.
6) Status value

I will attempt to answer these points in accordance to my professional opinion as well as my personal experience of being a mother myself.

1) No milk.

This is a common occurance, especially with Asian mothers. Could be genetics, could be cultural, could be the food we eat or do not eat etc... but it is a well-known fact that more Asian mothers "suffer" from this particular problem compared to, say, a Westerner.

However, it is also important to know that it is common for the mother to stay "dry" for up to 48 hours or even longer. Some women will have a few drops of colostrum while others are simply dry. This is commonly the source of stress for new mothers, especially when the baby is crying and you are not producing milk. Therefore, many mothers gave in and gave formula milk to their babies.

This is where education and support comes in. It is important to educate the mother than it is OK for the baby to loose weight up to 10% of his or her birth weight in the first week of life. In fact, this is expected, as the baby sheds his/her fluid and fat stores from living in the womb. Secondly, it is important to provide support to the mother to continue trying. It is no secret how milk comes in - it involved lots of stimulation (from the baby or even from using a breast pump) and determinance on the mother's part.

My own experience was that my milk did not come until after the 7th day, despite all the pumping and sucking from my baby (my first child). And even so, I had to take some drugs (eg. Dom Peridone etc) to stimulate the lactation process. This is also one of the methods (of all else fails) to help lactation and used quite a lot in many first world countries where breastfeeding rates are much higher. Perhaps the Msian government should look into subsidising and making this drug available for all mothers who need it (only as a last resolution and not as a "quickie" fix). For my second child, my milk did not come in until the 5th day and I did not need to rely on drugs.

Once breastfeeding is established, we will then run into the next problem....

2) Need to go back to work

This is when breastfeeding goes from predominantly an individual-family decision to one that involves the community and work sector. Due to the maternity leave policy in Msia and the work ethics of the Msian community, many mothers need to go back to work after the 1st month of confinement, some a bit later. In many countries where breastfeeding rates are higher, mothers tend to stay at home for at least 6 months to 12 months after the child's birth. In these countries, maternity or parental (includes paternal) leave policies and work ethics differ greatly than those in Msia, making it a more "breastfeeding friendly" environment. If the government in Msia is serious about increasing the breastfeeding rates, they should also be seriously looking into work and leave policies that are more friendly towards establishing a "breastfeeding" friendly environment. For example: longer paid leave, employers are not allowed to fire a mother who takes leave up to 6 months to 1 year (position guaranteed after leave), allowing the father to share parental leave to care for the children, making public areas and work places "breastfeeding friendly" by providing places for mother or employees to breastfeed or express and store their breastmilk etc.

On individual level, mothers should be educated on how to properly express, store and re-heat breastmilks.

All these changes are required to make breastfeeeding sucessful when the mother returns to the workplace.

3) Body image issue

This is a problem that stems from misconception of body image and unrealistic expectation of self from self or from the community as a whole. First of, there is no evidence so far to show that breastfeeding can cause your breasts to sag more. This is a myth.

Secondly, there is more evidence to show that your breasts will be saggier if you do not wear proper bras and more than half of the female population is guilty of this "crime", thus making this one of the biggest reason why breasts sag. Now, imagine you are breastfeeding and your breasts are obviously heavier than usual....and imagine you wearing a bra that does not provide good support or possibly not even your right size and cup....how do you think this will affect the condition of your breasts? So, ladies, the problem is not breastfeeding, but rather, "poor support". Solution: get professionally fitted by people who are trained to find the right size, type, support and cup of bra for you.

Thirdly, many mothers I had talked to are also guilty of what I call "self critism". For some reasons, women tend to be much more aware of the condition of their bodies AFTER marriage, AFTER kids, AFTER 40, AFTER...whatever benchmark they want to measure against. The truth is, as we age, our breasts will naturally lose its firmness. This is part and parcel of ageing and unless you are rich enough to invest on implants, this is something you must accept because it does not suddenly happen after marriage, or after kids, or after 40....it is a gradual and continuing process. The only reason why women begin to take notice of this change at a certain milestone was because of the "meaning" attached to these milestones..and women always attach "meaning" to most of the things in their life. Therefore, women reacts strongly against these milestones.

Well, ladies, if it helps keep your mind to rest...it is not just us who age, men age too and they face problems such as lost of virility etc. The only difference is, men do not usually react to these problems as strongly and as emotionally as us women.

The problem with body image often stems from unrealistic expectations and this can come from the individual, someone close to the individual, the community or culture...but the fact is, to tackle this problem, you will need to address it at all of these levels.

4) Recommendations of formula milk from people you know.

This is where the mother finds it hard to reconcile the knowledge she learned from health professionals (that breastfeeding is the best) and the knowledge she gets from people she knows or even other health professionals (who are selling formula or pro-formula). The fact that different health professionals in Msia are saying different things is in itself, a great problem that needs to be tackled first. There should be a standard policy for all health professionals with regards to breastfeeding. Everyone in the health sector, should be dancing to the same tune.

Restricting advertising and revising the formula advertising codes (like what the government is currently attempting to do) helps to tackle the issue of advertisement from companies to individuals... but it does not help the issue of 'advertising' between individual to individual (eg: from mother to daughter, from friend to friend etc). To tackle the individual level, education is needed. Also, using advertisement to your advantage is another strategy. Advertise the benefits of breastfeeding and do that as well (and effective) as private companies' advertisements of their formula milk. Mothers should also be educated to know that even though they should respect the advice of elders or other experienced mothers, the decision to breastfeed or not to breastfeed is a personal decision that will affect the mother and her child and should not be done lightly.

5) Formula milk has more satiety effect

Unfortunately, this is true. This is because formula milk has a different sort of protein profile and higher energy content per mL or breastmilk. Babies on formula milk tend to be heavier than babies on breastmilk too. In fact, there are plenty evidences to show that babies on formula milk are more likely to grow up to be overweight compared to babies on breastmilk, thus contributing to the increasing rate of adult obesity. And given that many mothers are 'expected' to produce cute and chubby babies (as a sign that baby is healthy), it is no wonder, many opted to use formula milk. Another dimension to this is the issue of control.

A mother has control over how much her baby drinks when on formula milk. She is able to tell how many mLs of milk her child had drunk. However, with breastfeeding, there is no way for her to tell how much her child has drunk. This gets worst when compared to other children, her child is lighter and less "chubby". People starts to judge her as a "bad mother" because her child is not feed enough etc etc. This gives added pressure for the mother to switch to formula milk.

From the above example, we can see that the issue of control comes with the issue of self-confidence or what I term as "maternal self efficacy". Many studies have found that poor breastfeeding rate is related to poor maternal confidence or self-efficacy. Again, this is a problem that can be tackled with education and support. Poor maternal confidence is also related to lack of trust on the child's ability to feed. When a mother lacks trust that her child will feed enough without having to visibly see how much the child had drunk, issues of control comes in. Mothers should be educated that all healthy babies will not consciously starve themselves. Babies are born with very strong survival instinct and unless a baby is ill, there is no possibility that a baby will starve itself.

It is also worth knowing that the current growth chart used in Msia are based on populations of formula fed babies....and because breastfed babies tend to be lighter, results from this growth chart can be easily mis-interpreted by those without proper training and understanding on how growth charts for babies and toddlers are developed.

If it helps to rest your minds, even though breastfed babies tend to be lighter than formula fed babies, they tend grow up to be adults with normal/healthy weight.

Lastly, mothers who use the excuse that formula is fuller and therefore they do not need to feed their babies more often should be given support by their husbands and families to continue breastfeeding. Yes, it is time consuming but the reward is priceless. Your baby's optimum health, your health and your bond with your child... these are things you can't buy with time and money.

6) Formula as status value

This is the most mis-conceived idea of the century! But sadly, many mothers do believe that if they are able to buy and give the best formula in the market for their child, it signifies higher status than the mother who has no choice but to breastfeed her child. Breastfeeding has been given a lower social status!

The fact is, no matter how much money you have, you can NEVER get a formula milk that is equal to its nutritional value as breastmilk. Formula milk is an IMMITATION of breastmilk. It is a great wonder to me how something that is man-made, an immitation (like piracy) and synthetically synthesised, can rival the REAL thing (breastmilk). This, mostly, comes from successful advertising of formula milk and loads of commercial brain-washing. To this date, no formula milk has been able to immitate 100% the content of breastmilk. And although formula milk moanufacturer do not tell you this, most of the nutrients in formula milk have poor bio-availability compared to nutrients in breastmilk. This means, nutrients from formula milk (although higher in content) are not as well absorbed and mostly excreted in urine or feces. This increased the kidney load on the babies, which is why breastmilk is much gentler and more suitable for babies than formula milk. The benefit of breastmilk far exceeds just its nutritional content, it also has socio-emotional value (eg. mother-child attachment and bonding) as well as developmental value (eg, development of proper oro-motor coordination, speech development etc).

With the current problem with tainted milk, this bring to attention again, the safety of formula milk and how formula milk will always be man-made and therefore subject to much errors in production while breastmilk is natural. If only all those babies were breastfed....they would have been fine now!

To tackle this problem, again, education and support.

So, you can see now how complex and multi-dimensional this issue is. Not only does it concern the mother and child, but her family, her partner, her workplace, the community, government policies etc.

I can honestly say, all my professional knowledge in this subject would have been nought if there is no support from everyone on my decision to breastfeed. If I were to be in Msia when I gave birth to my children, I am most certain that I would have stopped breastfeeding much earlier. Thank God I am overseas and there is plenty of breastfeeding support where I am now and I was able to persevere and breastfeed my children much longer.

Time we pull our resources together and give our babies the best start in life. I end with the breastfeeding motto: "Breast is Best!"

Breastfeeding Rates in Malaysia Decline : Part 1

Breastfeeding is a serious affair to Malaysian Breastfeeding Association founder and president, Siti Norjinah Moin, who religiously breastfed all her children. Three decades of hard work and the mother of five is far from pleased with the plummeting decline in breastfeeding practices in the country. “When the association started out in 1974, it was tough educating people on the benefits of breastfeeding. Until 1981, it appeared that breastfeeding had reached a plateau with not enough doctors and nurses trained on this topic. Breastfeeding was not a priority to them,” says Siti Norjinah (59).
"Only 14.5 per cent babies in Malaysia were exclusively breastfed below six months in 2006."

The Ministry of Health, in response, introduced a National Breastfeeding Policy in 1993 which also followed the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative introduced by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1991.
The Policy was revised 12 years later in accordance with the World Health Assembly Resolution which recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and continued up to two years with complementary foods in line with UNICEF and WHO’s Guidelines for Infant Feeding.
Breastfeeding on the decline in Malaysia
“Despite these initiatives, only 14.5 per cent babies were exclusively breastfed below six months in 2006,” laments the Ministry of Health’s Family Health Development Division Director Dr Safurah Jaafar. “In addition, only 19.3 per cent babies were exclusively breastfed below four months.”
Compared with the findings of the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2 (1996), there was a significant decline of 9.7 % in the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding below four months and a concurrent rise in the prevalence of babies who were predominantly breastfed but given additional water.
“Analysis of the breastfeeding pattern showed generally that exclusive breastfeeding rates were high in the first two months but dropped rapidly after the age of two to three months,” adds Dr Safurah.
“It was also found after the age of two months, more than half of the breastfed babies were supplemented with infant formula and given other foods like commercial baby foods or home-cooked baby food while 20 percent of breastfed infants were supplemented with plain water”.
Myths and lack of support for working women
Dr Safurah blames cultural beliefs, myths and ignorance for the country’s poor breastfeeding performance.
“The myth that breastfed babies need water in addition to breast milk are wide spread in the country. Lack of knowledge and skill of mothers on when to start complementary food and how to maintain breastfeeding are other prohibitive factors,” explains Dr. Safurah. “Complementary food, including water, should ONLY be introduced after the age of six months”.
Other factors according to Dr. Safurah are the lack of benefits and facilities to promote and facilitate breastfeeding practices amongst women who also make up some half of the country’s working population. These include the absence of longer maternity leave, the lack of flexible working hours and missing childcare centres at work places.
Overcoming problems
“The Ministry hopes to initiate a multi-agency task force to develop strategies to improve breastfeeding in Malaysia. It includes reinforcing the importance of breastfeeding by ensuring longer maternity leave and availability of breastfeeding facilities in public areas and work places,” affirms Dr. Safurah.
While embracing the Government’s commitment to promote and protect breastfeeding for children and women, Siti Norjinah remains somewhat worried about the level of commitment from employers.
“In 1983 I started a breastfeeding program for working mothers. When we started our Maternity Protection Campaign in 2000, the Federation of Employers boycotted our forum as they feared we would demand for more maternity leave. I was asking for 120 days of maternity leave,” explains Siti Norjinah.
”I worry the lack of support from employers will force working mothers to resort to formula milk,” adds the passionate breastfeeding advocate.
“In conjunction with the World Breastfeeding Week in August, I am putting the maternity program on the agenda. I truly hope the Government will show its support so we can ensure breastfeeding success for all of Malaysia’s children!”

Q : nak tanya sket,usually kita dok pam...pastu may be dlm 2-3 days(continuously) kita x pam but still dok direct bf...bleh effect output jugak ke?

A :bila bersama ngan bb, utamakan direct bf, bila terpisah dr bb, nak bf tak bleh kan... so replace with pumping session. the rule is, to maintain bm supply, kena ade demand which is by emptying ur breast efficiently (direct bf, hand express or pumping).

regarding output...kalau byk direct during weekend/cuti/hari tak bekerja.... then on hari bekerja tuh, supply akan naik...eg on monday. thats why certain mom yg ade prob with milk supply dinasihatkan bercuti, concentrate on direct bf. insyaAllah supply akan naik semula.

pengalaman saya bercuti 2 minggu (1 minggu sbb anis kena demam campak, kena kuarantin kat rumah), 1 minggu lg sambung ngan cuti CNY.... direct bf je la sepanjang 2 minggu tu. dlm minggu pertama mmg B tak rasa bengkak sbb anis dok gayut je. yer la budak dah demam kan, layan je la. mai minggu kedua, dah rasa bengkak bengkak pastu meleleh at another B bila bf. betul betul rasa mcm dlm pantang. bila masuk kerja, hasil pumping mmg lumayan.

Being a first mom, i pun macam u farah. dah la my hubby not around (im in kL, hubby in penang). mmg muka pucat, nak bgn pun tak larat....my mom take care anis esp bath part, my activity would be eat, drink, BF, poo, pee, oh forget, diaper change and sleep. boring. rasa 2 week baru betul betul cergas.

Being second mom, and no helpers around... but lucky i have hubby and anis with me (they are my strength), i feel healthy on second day onwards! can bath irfan, can layan anis tantrum.... can cook (my own confinement dish).

Truly, its in our head. if we feel healthy, it will shine from the inside to the outside. funny is, my BIL come to visit on day7 and i heard him whisper to my hubby ( i sat on the corner to bf irfan discreetely) and asking, either i already finish my confinement period. my hubby said no and he sooo surpirse bcoz i didnt look like a lady in confinement. LOL

Ive been pumping twice a day to releive engorgement.

onced in the early morning and onced before bed.

everytime i pump, praise be to Allah, i can get from 8 to 10 oz.

double pumping using medela FS for 10 min only.

ill transfer 3 oz (estimated per feeding quantity)of the ebm into each liner (specially design to store breastmilk).

i store my ebm in the deep freezer (buy 2 years ago for anis ebm)

Im yet to buy it, but the design and idea is simple (one size diaper cover and one size prefold) yet affordable.

I like prefold becoz it has more aborbency compare to flat muslin/gauze (lampin).

but i don like using prefold with snappi as i always accidently hurt my baby skin. (maybe im not using it right).

with econobum cover, maybe i can use any insert/soaker with dry layer (fleece liner).

As for the one size prefold im not sure how the impact of bulkiness issue on newborn.

Great time to experiment as well as officially i have newborn! LOL

Great excuse to buy new fluffies???? haahahaha... truly diaper addicted.[the truth is, i didnt buy any new (only 1 grobaby so far) diaper for Irfan as all the diaper stuff is inherited from his sister, Anis]

My boy, Asri Irfan loves to be snuggle in baby carrier. tot of make it as swing also ot bad...he dozes off after few minits in it.

this is how i did it. (bear in mind, safety first, this swing has been tied to wooden baby cot, suitable for newborn... not for heavy baby or toddler, unless the sling been tied to a strong base like tree? LOL)at another end tu i use small rings, thread it same as no-sew ring sling. hope it helps

Ive buy some cp before n after preggy. but being fully bf, no menses. so only have chance use liner for white dischrage n incontinenced esp duirng preegy time.

when i have baby irfan, got chance to use cp for my postpartum bleed.

i start use cp on day 2. Day 1 at hospital use dispo cloth pad (kotex loop).

my cp stash majority is flannel.
-saffa, snexy,ncd, peekarobaby.

-only 1 velour from moonbow and 1 with fleece from cyclez and 2 cotton from myluvlypad.

with heavy pospartum bleed...... washing cp (esp made from flannel) is very easy and no stain (can u see any stain from the picture? LOL)

Ive been search in the internet on how to do t2t legs in with newborn. by newborn i mean a baby less than 1mo.

At first i only tot that cradle carry is the only postion suitable for newborn either in pouch or ring sling.

By t2t, using rs is much better due to the adjustibility of the rails.

But then, the leg position is varies, there are legs out ang legs in. but for newborn, legs in are much prefered and less awkward.

Again , ive been sooo curious with how the leg been curled in side the rs. most of the instruction in the internet esp in youtube showing that the newborn leg been cross (mcm org duduk bersila) same like the leg in kanggarro carry.

ive been tried this position with irfan and he doesnt like it. he will grunting in the sling and moving his body ups and down. didnt calm at all.

then i try t2t with legs out and irfan ok with it. but again, legs out with newborn seem very awkward coz newborn are so small.

i take the great oppurtunity to learn through chinnee (mamapatch owner) when she come over to visit me about how to do t2t legs in.tq chinnee!

actually it is same as t2t legs out, the differences is only that the legs is been hiding behind the fabric. make sure the leg is froggy and thighten the rails that hold the bum so that the body weight fall on the bum not the leg.
